WhatsApp ‘calling feature’ invite is a malware: Cyber criminals are allegedly circulating fake invitations through the messenger service, WhatsApp to test the new calling feature.
The cyber criminals behind the scam supposedly request people to invite 10 other friends to get a taste of the web-based function if they wish to continue downloading it. The survey forces people to download applications and softwarethat might contain dangerous malware.
WhatsApp users are being warned that if a message saying ’Hey, I am inviting you to try WhatsApp Calling click here to activate now’ is received from friends and family, the best thing to do is ignore it.
WhatsApp hasn’t officially announced a proper date for the launch of the free voice calling addition.
